Studying in Bonn with Erasmus+
Would you like to spend a semester or year abroad in Bonn with Erasmus+? Here you will find information about your application and your stay abroad.
Information for Incomings
The Department for International Affairs deals with the organisation of your exchange. You can find general information and information about the application process here. They coordinate the framepoints and organise the welcome days. At the welcome days you also receive your Certificate of Arrival from the International Office.
The incoming student advisor at the Department for International Affairs is:
Ms. Hanan Elabdouni
Phone: +49-228-73 6316
E-Mail: erasmus-incoming@uni-bonn.de
In addition, there is the Departmental Coordinator, who is responsible for the academic aspects of your exchange. He will provide you with all the necessary information regarding your studies at the University of Bonn (e.g. learning agreement or transcript of records).
As the study of philosophy involves reading and discussion of philosophical writings, it is expected to have a good knowledge of German (B1). Furthermore we recommend you taking part in German classes.
You find detailed information on classes at the University of Bonn in the electronic course catalogue (eVV), called BASIS. There you will also find the booking codes for your classes, which you have to enter in your Learning Agreement.
On the website of the University of Bonn you will find helpful information about how to find accommodation in Bonn.
Contact Person: housing@uni-bonn.de
In principle, you may participate in all courses of the Institute of Philosophy. However, you should assess for yourself which courses are suitable for you based on your previous philosophical knowledge and your language skills.
However, we ask you to contact the Departmental Coordinator before the start of the semester and before the end of your stay, as he will help you to transfer the classes you have attended into a Transcript of Records.
Most courses belong to modules, which form part of our regular teaching (though the seminar courses on offer in each individual module tend to differ each year). You can find an overview over the modules here:
Module Manual BA Philosophy (not available in English)
Module Manual MA philosophy (not available in English)
To complete a course, you will have to attend classes in person. More details about how many ECTS points you can earn during your stay at our department you will find here. Please keep this information in mind when creating your Learning Agreement.
